Thankful for small and simple things...

As I sit beside Sister McKee today, I and our children are so thankful for the little miracles and tender mercies of the Lord. Little did we believe that we would be watching our wife and mother with such detail, looking and waiting for a little toe movement, eye movement, or hand movement. We get so excited for those little things and remind all of you as you gather around your family and friends
to enjoy the little things. I always tell the missionaries that it is not about the big things, It's all about the little things. When we notice and handle the little things the big things take care of themselves.
In Alma 37:6,7 the Lord states,"Now you may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass, and small means in many instances doth confound the wise. And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about His great and eternal purposes and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls,"
The Lord called a young boy of 14 years old to prepare him to restore the gospel of Jesus Christ upon the earth. This small and simple event is changing the world as our missionaries go out door to door with this important message. Two of our missionaries left a Book of Mormon with a man not long ago and he read it through the night. He called them to come and talk to them quickly about being baptized after receiving confirmation that the Book was true. He said, "Young men do you really know what you have here?" They responded "yes". He said I don't think you do or you would be running from door to door telling people about this book. Both looked up with a wide grin and said, "We are." We encourage our friends to connect with Mormon.org as there is so much information there concerning the "small and simple things" of the gospel. Two of our nurses are now listening to the missionaries. We love and appreciate them so much as they give kind care to Sister McKee. She is moving toes today and fingers again. We are so excited about those "small and simple things". She is still on the respirator and feeding tube. After ten minutes of practicing small movements in those beautiful piano fingers( I've never seen anything that she couldnt sight read) she then needs to rest for two hours to gain an ounce of energy again, but she is working on this progression today. We love you and want you to know that your "small and simple " prayers and love do make a difference. We love the Savior and are so grateful for the atonement and its guidance to us over these last 15 days especially.

  1. President McKee, we are so thankful to you for updating us who are so far away and can do nothing but pray for you and your sweet family. All who know you and your dear wife and family are touched by your faith. I read your blog from yesterday to the Mission President's wife here in Tucson and we were laughing at how, even when you are in so much dispair, you are still and forever, a missionary! Those of us in Tucson send our love and prayers to you and your family.
